Mercedes Benz Prague´s Fashion Week 2017

Last week I had the opportunity to attend MBPFW, it was my second time in Prague and my first time in a Fashion Week. It is amazing how Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week (#MBPFW, formerly Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Weekend) has developed since 2010. MBPFW started being just an open air show along “the longest catwalk in Central Europe” in Parížská street, quickly afterwards it evolved to a white “fashion tent”. Nowadays MBPFW is considered  “a fashion temple” that takes part at various historical buildings in Prague. This offers the participating designers an excellent setting for their amazing fashion presentations. Since 2013, became Mercedes-Benz, the event’s main sponsor, the Prague Fashion Week is now a well known member of the world prestigious Mercedes Benz fashion weeks family, like New York, Berlin, Sydney, Moscow, Istanbul or México City. MBPFW is the largest fashion event in the Czech Republic and the only one with an international coverage. It presents the work of carefully selected  Czechs and Slovakian designers , who introduce for the first time to the public their current next season´s collections.

The designers participating this 2017 were:
-Adam Kost
-Alter Era
-Blazek
-Chatty
-Daniela Pesková
-Imreczeova
-Jakub Polanka
-Jan Cerny
-Katerina Gislerová
-Laformela
-Lukás Krnác
-Lukas Machacek
-Michael Kovacik
-Michaela Hrinová
-Miro Sabo
-Petra Ptácková
-Situationist
-Tiqe by Petra Balvínová
-Zoltán Tóth
-Zuzana Kunícková

I had the pleasure to attend the shows of Miro Sabo, Daniela Peskova, Laformela, Alter Era, and Nehera by Blackout. All of the shows were amazing! Oversized, asymmetric, eye catcher outfits; an interplay of a variety of cuts and print placements, mixed with contemporary elements. Their avant-garde and slightly underground style that still keeps a feminine character is common for many famous Czech figures.

On Friday the 17th with the opening of the MBPFW, during the charity tram organized by the magazine Harperz Baazar, I had the chance to get to know some popular Czech fashion stylists, designers and celebrities such as Františka Cížková, Philip Valek and Leos Mares, and of course do some shopping! Shopping in Prague is an amazing experience, especially during a Fashion Week!
